Description

Seller's Description:

WALTHER ~ PP RARE WWII SS-ISSUE!
EAGLE/N..Matching, Original, Non-Import

NO RESERVE!! Here's a very scarce Walther PP pistol that is recognized as having been issued to the dreaded Nazi Schutzstaffel, more commonly known as the 'SS'. The SS was a powerful paramilitary organization that was the foremost agency of surveillance and terror during the reign of Hitler's Third Reich. Subdivisions within the SS formed such groups as the Gestapo, the Waffen-SS combat troops, and the SS-Totenkopfverbande who were charged with running the extermination camps. Members of the SS were among the most ruthless of all German Nazis.

There are several different variations of the Walther PP that are now recognized as having attributes unique to SS issued pistols. This pistol is one of the less common variations, but is quite readily recognized. It is known as a 'Type 4/P-suffix' variation. It has a high polish blue finish and both the frame and slide are stamped with the serial number with P suffix. Regular production Walther PP pistols made prior to serial number 220,xxxP did not receive the serial number on the exterior of the slide..only the SS pistols were so marked. This pistol has the serial numbered slide which was clearly marked with the same die used to number the frame..proof positive it is an SS pistol. Additionally, the SS pistols had factory serial numbered magazines with the number marked along the spine of the magazines. This pistol has an SS numbered magazine but it is not matching to this particular pistol.

This pistol is original and correct in every way. The slide and frame are properly serial numbered to match, stamped in SS fashion at the Walther factory. The slide, chamber and barrel muzzle each carry the Nazi era Eagle/N proofs. There are NO import markings, no refinish, and no touch-up. Condition is excellent and the original bright blue factory finish rates about 95-97% with a small amount of normal holster wear at the sharp edges and a small rub to the heel of the back strap. The grips are original and in excellent overall condition. There are no cracks or chips. The magazine is in generally good condition except that the base plate has been bent/dented (this could be replaced easily enough if desired). This pistol is in perfect mechanical condition and also has a bright, sharp bore that is free of pitting or erosion. Also included is a period black pebble grain leather holster that is in good condition. The holster appears to be unmarked.

The SS utilized both PP and PPK pistols however the PP is far less common. According to Steven J. Stepan's book 'SS Walther PP/PPK Identification & Documents' there are about 1850 documented SS issued PPK's but only 135 documented SS issued Model PP's! While the book obviously does not have a complete accounting of all SS issued Walther pistols, it certain shows how uncommon the SS-issue PP was. It has been suggested that this low number of PP pistols may indicate the PP's were issued to higher ranking officers.

NO RESERVE!! Here's a nice original late-WWII Walther Model PP 7.65mm (.32 ACP) semi-automatic pistol. This pistol is maker code marked 'ac' for Walther production and is the 'blank slide' variation, completely lacking the legend on the left side of the slide, and made without any proof marks. Unlike many of these late war PP's, the slide and frame are matching, each numbered 386654p. The pistol shows the late war style military finish with little polish and the milling marks still quite evident. The original dull blue finish rates about 94-95% with some scattered handling marks and minor sharp edge wear. There is no significant rust or pitting. There are NO import markings and this was almost certainly a WWII GI bring-back. The original metal reinforced black checkered grips are in good condition with minor wear and scuffs. The mechanics are in good working order and the bore is in excellent shape with bright, sharp rifling. It comes with one correct late war 'W' marked phosphate magazine. A nice example, this Walther PP would have been manufactured in 1945, just a few weeks before the fall of the Third Reich.
